In Commemoration of Prof. Dr. Željko Horvatić, Professor Emeritus

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing away of Prof. Dr. Željko Horvatić, Professor Emeritus of the University of Zagreb on 18 April 2016 in Zagreb.

Five decades of his fascinating scientific and teaching career have enormously shaped the Croatian criminal law, criminology and other criminal sciences.

His contribution as a longtime head of the Criminal Law Department at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Rijeka and University of Zagreb, the founder and President of the Croatian Academy of Legal Sciences, the first President of the Croatian Association for Criminal Sciences and Practice, and in the capacity of many other positions he had held, has been recognised as exceptional by his colleagues, professional community and general public.

He will always stay remembered as one of the greatest authorities of criminal law in Croatia and beyond.

The University of Zagreb, The Faculty of Law and The Croatian Academy of Legal Sciences will have a joint commemoration ceremony on the occasion of his death on 27 April 2016 at 11.00 in the University Aula.
