Balkan Criminology's Finalised Research
Between 2013 and 2019 Balkan Criminology successfully conducted a total of 16 research projects. In numbers, our work in the past 7 years can be summarised as follows:
BC MAPPINGS: a total of 57 papers by 77 authors contained in 3 edited volumes of the Balkan Criminology Book Series, covering criminological core areas (criminology, victimology & penology) in all 15 countries of the region and intro-contributions from leading scholars;

BC RESEARCH PROJECTS: 20 research projects, out of which 16 have been successfully concluded, 2 are in their final stages and 1 is ongoing, whereas 1 is of permanent nature;
BC PhDs: 5 successful PhD projects, out of which 2 completed cotutelle PhDs between PFZ and MPICC (2015), 1 completed PhD via the MPICC’s doctoral research school (2018), 1 completed PhD by BC staff (2019), and 1 to soon be submitted PhD by BC staff (2020);
BC MONOGRAPHS: 5 scientific monographs within the Balkan Criminology Book Series, out of which 1 has been published (2017), 3 are in technical editing (2020) and 1 publication forthcoming (2021);
Scientific monographs within the Balkan Criminology Book Series
BC NETWORK: active network of criminology and criminal justice scholars and experts in 17 countries, covering all of the Balkans and Southeast Europe, and the western neighbouring countries, with a total of 12 concluded cooperation agreements with leading higher education and research institutions in these countries;
BALKAN HOMICIDE STUDY: 3.126 analysed prosecution/court case files from 7 Balkan countries, out of which data from 1.406 analysed prosecution/court case files from 4 countries has already been collected, whereas even more data from another 1.720 analysed prosecution/court case files from 3 countries expected by mid-2020;
BC EVENTS: 5 scientific conferences (Zagreb 2013, Zagreb 2014, Sarajevo 2015, Bucharest 2016, Budapest 2017); 5 Balkan Criminology working group meetings and 15 Balkan Criminology panels with a total of 65 paper presentations at the annual conferences of the European Society of Criminology; 2 research workshops (Zagreb 2016 and Freiburg 2017); 5 one-week intensive PhD courses with a total of 91 participants and 43 lectures;
BC NEWSLETTER: a total of 13 published issues of the Balkan Criminology Newsletter, featuring as many as 111 articles from 127 authors.
