Balkan Criminology is proud to present an event held on the 21st of October 2021. The event in question offered a presentation of work of Balkan Criminology Group and the Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime and was held at the University of Zagreb, Croatia.
Opening statements at the event were given by the Rector of the University of Zagreb, Prof. Dr. Boras, the Dean of Zagreb Law Faculty, Prof. Dr. Koprić and the representative for the Croatian Ministry of Science and Education, Dr. Meštrić, after which both organisations presented their recent work and achievements. The Head of Balkan Criminology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anna-Maria Getoš Kalac and director emeritus at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law in Freiburg, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Hans-Jörg Albrecht presented the work of Balkan Criminology and it’s journey from a research group to a partner of global players in tackling (organised) crime. The word was also given to Dr. Bezić, who shortly presented the book “Juvenile Delinquency in the Balkans: a Regional Comparative Analysis based on the ISRD3-Study Findings“, written on the basis of her doctoral thesis. As for the work of Global Initiative against Transnational Oranized Crime, director of Observatory of Illicit Economies in South-Eastern Europe (GI-TOC), Dr. Kemp, the senior adviser for GI-TOC, Amb. Prof. Dr. Zvekić and programme manager for GI-TOC, Ms Amerhauser presented the work of the organisation, with a specific focus on its goal of analysing risk and strengthening resilience.
