Dr. Dr. h.c. Michael Kilchling, senior researcher at the Department of Public Law of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law and lecturer at the University of Freiburg, was awarded Doctor honoris causa (criminal law, criminology, victimology), University of Pécs, Hungary on the 4th of November this year. Dr. Kilchling, received his doctoral degree (Dr. iur.) with the dissertation “Interests of victims of crime and public prosecution" and his main research interests include penal sanctions and sanctioning systems, juvenile justice, victim/offender mediation and other forms of restorative justice, victimology, organised crime, money laundering and the financing of terrorism, confiscation and asset recovery, and procedural measures of investigation.
