“International Protection, Fundamental Rights, and the Challenge of Monitoring Police Conduct toward People on the Move” Conference

We are pleased to share that the Balkan Criminology  hosted a professional conference entitled “International Protection, Fundamental Rights, and the Challenge of Monitoring Police Conduct toward People on the Move” on March 13 (Thursday), 2025. The Conference took place via the Google Meet platform and was held in Croatian. It was intended for professionals in the fields of law, criminology, and related disciplines, as well as students and all other interested parties.

During the Conference, three presentations were delivered:

“Cross-Border Migration in the Jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights” – Presenter: Prof. Davor Derenčinović,  Judge of the European Court of Human Rights

“The Issue of International Protection in Croatian Legislation” – Presenter: Marina Zagorec, PhD, Senior Administrative Advisor, City of Zagreb – City Office for General Administration and Property-Legal Affairs

“Methodological Challenges in Monitoring Police Conduct toward People on the Move”
 – Presenter: Prof. Anna-Maria Getoš Kalac, Balkan Criminology

Following the presentations, a moderated discussion was led by Petra Šprem, PhD, Balkan Criminology, followed by the closing remarks.
