Following the public call of the Croatian Ministry of Science and Education and the nomination by the University of Zagreb’s Senate, Prof. Dr. Anna-Maria Getoš Kalac, Head of the Balkan Criminology, was elected and nominated by the Croatian Government to the Parliament as one of 7 members of the new Executive Board of the Croatian Science Foundation (from the field of social sciences). Following this, the new Board elected its President, whereas Prof. Dr. Getoš Kalac was elected as Deputy President. On 2nd June 2021 the Croatian Parliament relieved all members of the former Executive Board of CSF and accepted her nomination, appointing her as member of the CSF’s Executive Board.
Interestingly, during the parliamentary discussion of the Government’s proposal even those parliamentarians who opposed the nominated new Executive Board repeatedly cited the survey Prof. Dr. Getoš Kalac and the Violence Lab conducted back in 2019 while highlighting that the CSF has thus far not fully accomplished its founding mission.
